Amazon’s OpenAI gambit signals a new phase in the cloud wars — one where exclusivity no longer applies

AWS added OpenAI’s most advanced models to Bedrock in limited preview, making them easier for enterprises to use on AWS.

The company also introduced a new agent framework, the Amazon Quick desktop tool, and more agentic versions of Amazon Connect.

The move comes after Microsoft’s OpenAI cloud deal was reworked, ending exclusive cloud restrictions and opening the door to rival platforms.

It signals a broader shift toward nonexclusive cloud AI distribution and intensifies competition across the major cloud providers.
