More than 30,000 Samsung union members take to the streets to demand an average bonus of $400,000 per worker — May 21 strike date looms, union points to rival SK hynix granting higher bonuses to its employees

Samsung labor union members rallied in South Korea to demand a bigger profit-sharing bonus and higher wages.

The union wants 15% of operating profit paid as bonuses, a 7% pay raise, and removal of the bonus cap.

Management offered a smaller package, which the union rejected.

If no agreement is reached by May 21, the union says an 18-day strike could begin.

The dispute could disrupt Samsung’s chip operations and reflects growing pressure to share AI-era semiconductor profits with workers.
