Meta launches Forum, an app for Facebook Groups offered as a Reddit alternative

Meta quietly launched Forum, a standalone app for Facebook Groups that separates group discussions from the main Facebook feed.

The app keeps Facebook login and group data connected, while allowing anonymized usernames for members; admins can still see real identities.

Forum also adds AI features for search, answers, and moderation, aiming to make communities easier to discover and manage.

Meta previously shut down a similar Groups app in 2017 and says Forum may still be an experiment, but it could become a Reddit-style alternative.
