Astronomers Discover Strange “Inside-Out” Planetary System That Defies Cosmic Rules

LHS 1903 is a small red M-dwarf star.

It emits far less light than the Sun.

Thomas Wilson and his team used space- and ground-based telescopes to identify planets orbiting LHS 1903.

The system's inner three planets are rocky, and other identified planets farther out include gas giants.

Cheops observations indicate an additional, more distant planet that also appears to be rocky.
