$104M Utah heavy rare earth expansion targets materials for six million EVs yearly

Energy Fuels has started expanding its White Mesa Mill in Utah to add commercial production of heavy rare earth oxides such as terbium and dysprosium alongside its existing light rare earth output.

The $104 million project aims to build a broader mine-to-magnet supply chain with partners in Australia, South Korea and the United States.

Heavy rare earth production is expected in 2027, with additional oxides slated for 2028.

The move could help reduce North American dependence on China for critical rare earth processing used in EV motors, defense systems and other advanced technologies.
