SoftBank to invest up to 75 billion euros in French AI data centers

SoftBank plans to invest up to 75 billion euros in France over several years to build AI data centers and related infrastructure.

The first phase would cost 45 billion euros and deliver 3.1 gigawatts of capacity in Hauts-de-France, with sites including Loon-Plage, Dunkirk, Bosquel and Bouchain.

SoftBank also plans a manufacturing cluster with Schneider Electric in Dunkirk to support the buildout.

The project is expected to serve AI customers, cloud providers, researchers and government users, while boosting France’s role as a European AI infrastructure hub.
