OkCupid settles claims it shared user photos with a facial recognition company

The FTC announced a settlement with OkCupid and parent company Match Group over claims they shared user photos with Clarifai without consent.

Clarifai reportedly received access to nearly three million OkCupid user photos plus demographic and location data after contacting an OkCupid founder in 2014.

OkCupid and Match Group did not admit wrongdoing, agreed not to misrepresent data practices going forward, and accepted compliance monitoring while the settlement does not impose penalties.
