How Anthropic's 80x growth blew past its own infrastructure and straight into Musk's data center

Anthropic has struck a deal to use Elon Musk’s Colossus 1 supercomputer in Memphis to ease a severe compute shortage.

The access adds roughly 300 megawatts and about 220,000 Nvidia GPUs as Anthropic’s growth strained its own infrastructure.

The company had faced rate limits and outages amid surging usage, including for Claude Code.

The deal also reflects shifting priorities at SpaceXAI/xAI, which appears to be leaning harder into enterprise revenue ahead of a possible IPO.
