Samsung's 5,000mAh ceiling is finally showing signs of cracking

Samsung is reportedly testing silicon-carbon batteries for future Galaxy flagships, with the Galaxy S27 Ultra seen as the likely first model to get them.

The new chemistry could let Samsung finally move beyond the long-standing 5,000mAh battery limit on its Ultra phones.

However, the technology still needs durability improvements before it is ready for launch.

If adopted, Samsung’s flagships could gain bigger capacities and better battery life without major design tradeoffs.
