Americans are using AI more than ever while trusting it less, new Quinnipiac poll finds

Quinnipiac polled 1,397 randomly selected U.S. adults (including 800 employed) by phone; margin of error ±3.3 points.

AI adoption is rising: research use 37%→51%, data analysis 17%→27%, image generation 16%→24% (writing 28%; school/work 24%→27%).

Trust is low: only 21% trust AI-generated information most/almost always; 76% trust it only sometimes or hardly ever.

Concern outweighs excitement: 80% are concerned while 35% are excited; 55% say AI does more harm than good in daily life (up from 44%).

Share who never used AI fell 33%→27%; 51% say AI is advancing faster than expected; education views skew toward harm (64%); healthcare shows 45% expect harm vs 43% benefit.
