TSMC secures all of Taiwan’s offshore wind power for 30 years, intensifying the AI power war

TSMC has signed a 30-year deal to buy all power from Northland Power’s Hai Long offshore wind project off Taiwan.

The agreement secures more than 1 GW of long-term renewable electricity for the chipmaker.

The move comes as AI chip demand drives a sharp rise in power needs across the semiconductor industry.

It could strengthen Taiwan’s energy security and TSMC’s supply-chain competitiveness.
