Netflix has overtaken the BBC... Is the era of British TV coming to an end?

Netflix is now the first-choice viewing platform for 26% of UK viewers, narrowly ahead of the BBC at 25% and ITV at 15%.

Ofcom’s annual media report points to a broader shift in UK viewing habits away from traditional broadcast TV and toward streaming.

YouTube usage is also rising strongly, especially among younger audiences, adding more pressure on legacy broadcasters.

In response, the BBC has announced plans to cut several programs and reduce its original TV output.
