Claude Mythos reportedly solves OpenAI's landmark Erdős problem with a "cute, simple proof"

Anthropic employees say Claude Mythos found a short proof of the Erdős unit-distance conjecture in an internal multi-instance test.

The model reportedly discovered a different approach from OpenAI’s, while also arriving at the same result.

Recent AI systems have also solved other Erdős problems, some with Lean or other formal verification tools.
