Apple Intelligence mistakenly went live in China before regulatory approval

Apple Intelligence briefly appeared in Chinese iOS settings and could be enabled before being removed.

Apple pulled the feature after user reports and media coverage on March 30–31, 2026.

China’s CAC requires testing and approval of AI models before deployment, and Apple has been working with Alibaba for a China rollout.
