Google Chrome takes up 4GB of storage on your computer for AI, if you have space

Chrome is downloading about 4GB of Gemini Nano model files in the background to power on-device AI features such as writing help and scam detection.

Google says the models are managed automatically and can be deleted when storage runs low.

A new setting to disable the downloads is rolling out, but it is not yet available to everyone.

The update highlights how browser AI features can quietly consume significant local disk space and raise user-control concerns.
