Anthropic's Next-Generation Model Will Be Closed-Source, Used Only for Security and Defense

Anthropic announced Project Glasswing to improve software security.

Participants include AWS, Apple, Broadcom, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Google, JPMorgan Chase, the Linux Foundation, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Palo Alto Networks.

The initiative was prompted by Anthropic’s unreleased frontier model Claude Mythos and its Preview.

Mythos Preview has autonomously found thousands of critical vulnerabilities — affecting major operating systems, web browsers, the Linux kernel, OpenBSD (a 27‑year‑old bug) and FFmpeg (a 16‑year‑old bug).

Project Glasswing aims to apply the technology for defensive purposes amid concerns about misuse.
