Dead SpaceX Rocket To Smash Into The Moon On Wednesday

An abandoned SpaceX Falcon 9 upper stage is expected to hit the Moon on Aug. 5.

The impact is predicted near Einstein Crater and will be invisible from Earth, though a dust and debris plume may be seen.

Researchers say the strike could carve a crater about 27 meters wide.

The event offers a rare chance to study an artificial lunar impact while highlighting the growing space-debris problem around the Moon.
