Last of Us Multiplayer Game Was 80% Complete Before It Was Canceled

Naughty Dog canceled its standalone multiplayer title The Last of Us Online in 2023.

A former developer said the project was about 80% complete after nearly seven years of work.

The team began the multiplayer project alongside The Last of Us Part II but later shifted resources to a new single-player IP revealed in 2024.
