Some Signs of Depression May Show Up in Blood, Study Finds

Researchers found that monocyte biological aging in blood was strongly linked to mood-related depression symptoms in women with and without HIV.

The monocyte-based epigenetic clock, MonoDNAmAge, outperformed the older Horvath clock in this study.

The results suggest a possible objective biomarker for earlier depression detection, especially for people with HIV.

However, this is not yet a clinical blood test and needs further validation.
