Scientists Discover Major Errors in Al Gore-Founded Climate Pollution Database

A Northern Arizona University study found Climate TRACE’s vehicle CO2 estimates for 260 U.S. cities were about 70% lower on average than a transportation emissions database.

In some cities, the gap was more than 90%, raising concerns that the AI-based system may be significantly undercounting urban emissions.

Researchers say the mismatch could affect climate policy, budgets, and progress tracking, since cities rely on these datasets to set targets and measure results.

The findings, published in Environmental Research Letters, spotlight broader questions about the accuracy of emissions databases and public trust in climate data.
