AMD extends Socket AM5 support through at least 2029; AM4 refuses to die

AMD says its AM5 socket will stay supported through at least 2029, giving builders a longer upgrade path.

The company is also reviving the Ryzen 7 5800X3D for AM4 as a 10th Anniversary Edition.

The re-release arrives June 25 for $349 and targets gaming gains with extra 3D V-Cache L3 cache.

The move should help users reuse existing motherboards and memory for longer, lowering upgrade costs.
