New Weight-Loss Pill Could Help Solve a Major Problem With GLP-1 Drugs

A new once-daily GLP-1 pill, orforglipron, may help people keep weight off after stopping Wegovy or Mounjaro.

In a study, patients who switched to orforglipron regained much less weight over 52 weeks than those given placebo.

The pill also helped preserve gains in blood pressure, blood sugar, insulin, and cholesterol.

Because it is cheaper to produce and easier to store than injectable GLP-1 drugs, it could make obesity treatment more accessible.

Orforglipron is approved in the US, but it is not yet licensed for weight loss in the UK.
