Android Auto is one step closer to getting home screen widgets

Google appears to be developing car widgets for Android Auto, based on code in version 16.8.161804.

The hints point to a phone-like widget browser with featured widgets and search.

There’s no official release date yet, and Google hasn’t announced the feature.

If launched, widgets could make Android Auto more customizable and useful with quick-access info and controls.
