New Data Suggests That AI Really Is Already Replacing Human Jobs

New BLS labor data shows a 0.2% overall decline from May 2024 to May 2025 in 18 occupations seen as vulnerable to AI.

Sales representatives saw the steepest drop, down 4.8%, while graphic designers and legal secretaries were also among the tracked roles.

Analysts say the numbers add to concern about AI’s impact on work, but do not yet prove broad AI-driven job replacement.

Broader layoffs may still be driven more by the economy than by automation alone.
