Apple confirms iOS 26.5 Messages app adds RCS end-to-end encryption

Apple says iOS 26.5 will add beta RCS end-to-end encryption to the Messages app.

The feature will be available only on carriers that support it, with rollout happening gradually.

This should make iPhone-to-Android texting more private and close part of the security gap with iMessage.
