Atari Is Buying The Maker Of The Crossy Road Games

Atari will acquire Hipster Whale for $29.3 million upfront, with up to $10 million more tied to performance.

Hipster Whale co-founder Matt Hall will join Atari in a leadership role focused on mobile game development.

The deal adds the studio behind Crossy Road and Pac-Man 256 to Atari’s portfolio.

Atari says the acquisition supports its push into mobile and cross-screen gaming across phones, tablets, PCs, TVs, and in-car screens.
