Type 'ignore' into Google Search and it will actually ignore your request

Google Search’s AI Overviews are misreading some definition queries, including words like “ignore,” “dismiss,” and “disregard,” as instructions.

Instead of returning normal dictionary-style results or synonym lists, the system sometimes responds in an assistant-like tone.

The bug breaks a basic search use case and raises reliability concerns for users who expect simple lookup answers.

The issue was surfaced on X and reported by TechCrunch, with a hotfix expected or already in progress.
