Previewing GPT-5.6 Sol: a next-generation model

OpenAI has launched a limited preview of the GPT-5.6 family, including flagship Sol, lower-cost general-purpose Terra, and fast low-cost Luna.

Sol adds deeper reasoning and subagent-based work modes, with improved benchmark results in coding, biology, and cybersecurity.

The model also ships with OpenAI’s strongest safety protections yet, especially for high-risk and cyber-related use cases.

OpenAI plans a broader release in the coming weeks after testing with trusted partners and coordinating with the U.S. government.
