Samsung says One UI 9 will tighten Galaxy lockscreen security with escalating warnings and wait times after failed PIN, pattern, or password attempts.

After 13 unsuccessful tries, a Galaxy phone may be permanently locked and only a factory reset can clear it.

Biometrics won’t bypass the need to enter a backup credential every 72 hours, raising the risk of data loss from simple mistakes.

The change makes backups and account access more important for Galaxy users, especially with Factory Reset Protection in play.
