Anthropic introduces identity verification to prevent misuse and strengthen compliance

Anthropic announced it will require identity verification for some use cases.

Users will be verified through Persona Identities with a government-issued ID and a selfie to help prevent abuse and support compliance and legal obligations.

Accounts may be suspended if terms are violated, access comes from unsupported regions, or the user is found to be a minor.

An appeals process will also be provided for disputed cases.
