U.S. court says evidence is insufficient... Trump administration sanctions on Anthropic may be 'voided'

A federal judge in Northern California found the Trump administration lacked enough legal and factual basis to label Anthropic a supply-chain risk and bar its use by federal agencies.

The court said the government’s national-security concerns and evidence were not sufficient to justify the restriction and had not changed much since the earlier injunction hearing.

The dispute stems from Anthropic’s clash with the Pentagon over how the Claude model can be used and what military uses should be restricted.

A final written ruling is still pending, and the case could set an important precedent on whether the government can limit market access based on AI policy or safety standards.
