New 345-mile-range turbojet-powered missile could boost US Navy’s strike capability

The U.S. Navy successfully flight-tested Boeing’s JDAM-LR (GBU-75) from an F/A-18, proving it can hit targets from more than 200 nautical miles away.

The Point Mugu test also showed accurate target strikes, with a second run including maneuvering and altitude changes.

The weapon offers a lower-cost long-range standoff option for striking ships or laying mines from outside enemy air defenses.

That could improve carrier air wing survivability and extend the Navy’s reach, complementing systems like Harpoon and SLAM-ER.
