The Wall Street Journal says U.S. companies are seeing more cases of parents stepping in on behalf of adult Gen Z children at work.

Reports include parents joining interviews and getting involved in salary talks, firings, performance reviews, and sick leave requests.

Some firms have faced phone complaints and interview interference from parents, and a survey found 20% of Gen Z respondents had attended an interview with a parent.

Companies worry this makes it harder to judge independence and problem-solving skills, and may weaken direct communication after hiring.
