Ploopy’s new mouse makes the ThinkPad’s iconic TrackPoint portable

Ploopy announced the Bean, a compact open-source mouse that uses a red TrackPoint-style pointing stick instead of a touchpad or trackball.

The Bean includes a high-sensitivity magnetic sensor, four customizable buttons, USB-C wired connectivity, and a 3D-printed enclosure.

It supports QMK and VIA for remapping and customization, with preorders open now at about $51.

The design targets hardware tinkerers who want a portable, repairable alternative with laptop-style pointing-stick control.
