Turkey’s answer to the US F-35 reaches a key milestone as KAAN P1 begins powered taxi tests

Turkish Aerospace Industries has begun powered taxi tests for the KAAN P1 prototype.

The checks cover runway handling, braking, steering, and engine response ahead of its expected maiden flight.

P1 is the first KAAN prototype built to closely match the planned production configuration, unlike the earlier P0 demonstrator.

The milestone moves Turkey closer to fielding a homegrown stealth fighter and F-35 replacement.
