Gemini is Google Maps' new sheriff

Google is adding Gemini-powered protections to Maps and Business Profiles to detect review-extortion scams and profile abuse earlier.

Suspicious fake reviews and edits can be blocked before they go live, and new reviews may be paused when abuse spikes.

Business owners will also get proactive alerts about important profile changes so they can respond faster.

The update is meant to curb review-bombing and spam while making local information more trustworthy for users.
