Demis Hassabis said this might be the ‘foothills of the singularity.’ What?

At Google I/O, DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis said today’s AI gains could be the “foothills of the singularity.”

He unveiled Gemini for Science, a set of tools in Google Labs and Google Antigravity to support scientific research.

Google says it wants to use these systems to speed up drug discovery and ultimately help solve disease.

Hassabis also reiterated his view that AGI could have a 50% chance of arriving by 2030.
