Gemini takes on ChatGPT and Claude with a major switching upgrade

Gemini introduced an import memory tool, gemini added an "import memory" tool that transfers memories, preferences, and personal context from other chatbots.

Import memory tool uses a copy-and-paste prompt flow to import memories the tool provides a prompt to copy from the other chatbot and a text box in Gemini to paste the response and save as memory.

Gemini import tool does not import files, attachments, or AI images, gemini can import prompts and responses but not project files, attachments, or AI-generated images.

Gemini accepts ZIP chat exports up to 5GB, gemini supports uploading exported chat history as ZIP files up to 5GB and organizes chats automatically.

Allows individual deletion of imported chats imported chats can be deleted individually after upload.
