Gemini for Android Automotive is rolling out soon, even if your car isn’t brand new

Google said Gemini will roll out to eligible U.S. Android Automotive vehicles in the next few months, including many 2020-and-newer models via software update.

New cars with Google built-in will use Gemini by default, while some existing vehicles may keep Google Assistant for now.

The assistant will handle navigation help, message summaries, media control, EV information, and select vehicle-specific commands.

The update signals Google’s shift toward a more conversational in-car assistant and broader vehicle-aware voice controls.
