Google announces ‘Workspace Intelligence’ and TPU 8t + 8i chips

Google unveiled Workspace Intelligence, a background AI layer that uses Gemini and search to personalize actions across Workspace apps.

The new features include AI Inbox, AI Overviews, and Ask Gemini in Chat, plus context-aware content generation in Docs, Slides, and Sheets.

Google said the system will use company context across Gmail, Drive, Chat, and other apps to make Workspace more helpful and proactive.

At Cloud Next 2026, Google also announced eighth-generation TPUs: 8t for training and 8i for inference.

The new chips are designed for larger scale, faster data access, and better price-performance to cut AI infrastructure costs.
