Artemis II Crew Sends Back First Earth Views From Journey To The Moon

Artemis II astronauts downlinked the first crew-shot images during their 10-day lunar flyby mission.

Mission commander Reid Wiseman captured high-resolution photos of Earth from one of Orion's windows after the translunar injection burn on April 2.

The four-person crew are the first humans beyond low-Earth orbit since Apollo 17; Orion is expected to reach the moon on April 6 for a non-landing flyby.

During the flyby the crew will run operational tests, photograph the lunar surface, and rehearse tasks to prepare for Artemis III in 2027.
