Europe—not US—first to authorize Moderna's combo mRNA flu-COVID vaccine

The European Commission approved Moderna’s combined flu-COVID mRNA vaccine, mCOMBRIAX, for use in Europe.

The decision followed a positive EMA review and Phase III results showing stronger immune responses than comparator flu vaccines, with no new safety concerns.

This is Europe’s first licensed single-shot option covering both influenza and COVID-19, which could simplify vaccination for higher-risk adults.

The vaccine has not yet received authorization in the United States.
