Microsoft wants Windows 11’s right-click menu to work the way it should, by giving users more control

Microsoft is reportedly testing a redesigned Windows 11 right-click menu that loads faster by skipping unnecessary third-party extensions.

The new compact menu would add a Customize option so users can hide, choose, and reorder items.

The change is linked to Microsoft’s broader Windows K2 effort and a shift toward WinUI.

No release date has been announced, but the update could improve a long-standing Windows 11 usability pain point.
