Waymo reportedly mulling a breakup with Uber

Waymo is reportedly considering ending or reshaping its robotaxi partnership with Uber.

Waymo plans to offer rides through its own app in Austin and Atlanta starting in January 2028.

Uber says the current contract in those cities runs through May 2028, and the Phoenix arrangement has already ended.

The reported split highlights rising tensions over robotaxi safety, regulation, and control of autonomous ride distribution.
