A $7,000 DIY radar project is taking on hardware that usually costs over $100,000

Moroccan engineer Nawfal Motii has released Aeris-10, a fully documented open-source phased-array radar platform.

The project includes schematics, PCB files, firmware, software, FPGA-based processing, and two hardware variants, with build costs estimated at about $5,000 to $7,200.

Aeris-10 has been relicensed under CERN-OHL-PT and is being prepared for a Crowd Supply launch in 2026.

The goal is to make advanced radar far more affordable and accessible than typical commercial or defense-grade systems.
