OpenAI's Codex now watches your screen to remember what you're working on

OpenAI added Chronicle to Codex as an opt-in macOS preview.

It records the screen and turns it into local Markdown memory summaries so Codex can retain context across tasks.

The recordings are temporary, deleted after six hours, and limited to ChatGPT Pro users outside the EU, UK, and Switzerland.

The feature boosts context awareness, but it also raises privacy, security, and rate-limit concerns.
