Court rules Solvinity can keep maintaining Dutch digital identity platform

A Hague court allowed the Dutch state to renew Solvinity’s contract for the Picard infrastructure behind DigiD and MijnOverheid.

The judge said ending the setup before a secure replacement is ready would create unacceptable risks for essential public services.

Three citizens had tried to block the renewal over concerns that Solvinity’s planned sale to U.S.-based Kyndryl could expose Dutch data to U.S. laws.

The ruling keeps core digital identity services running for now, while leaving unresolved questions about data sovereignty and foreign control.
