Android Halo could be the missing link between Android and AI agents

Google previewed Android Halo at Google I/O 2026, a system-level Android feature for showing real-time AI agent progress at the top of the screen.

The feature is designed to let users track background tasks without switching apps or interrupting what they’re doing.

Google says Halo will support Gemini Spark and other agents, with broader integration planned across Android.

If widely adopted, Halo could make AI agents feel more transparent, useful, and trustworthy on phones.
