Google is not ending security updates for Chromecasts [U]

Google said it is not ending critical security updates for Chromecast devices after a support page briefly suggested otherwise.

The company said the page was updated in error and that supported devices will keep receiving security protection.

Several older Chromecast models are already outside Google’s support window, but the 2022 Chromecast with Google TV HD remains supported.

The clarification matters because Google’s support policy determines how long popular streaming devices stay protected against vulnerabilities.
