Facebook and Instagram are using AI bone structure analysis to identify photos of kids

Meta is rolling out AI tools on Facebook and Instagram to detect users who may be under 13 by analyzing photos, videos, captions, bios, and comments.

Accounts suspected of being underage will be deactivated unless the user can verify their age.

The company is also expanding automated placement of 13- to 18-year-olds into stricter Teen Accounts.

The rollout begins in the US and will later expand to the UK and EU, raising new questions about child safety, privacy, and enforcement.
